Besides cooling your home down from the inside, we’re also sharing a few ideas to stay cool from the outside of your home too. These are additional ways to help you stay cool…
– Mother nature can be a great resource when it comes to keeping temperatures cooler at home during spring and summer. When you plant deciduous trees on the east and west sides of your home, the leaves can help shade your home. Additionally, planting trees and shrubs in high-heat areas – around air conditioning units that put off heat, and areas like sidewalks and driveways that absorb heat can make a difference in your home temperature. When planting near the air conditioning unit, it is recommended to plant a minimum of 3 feet from all sides of the unit – this helps the over growth from restricting the system and allows accessibility for a technician to work on the unit.
– Other simple things help you stay cool, like grilling outside instead of heating up the house by cooking inside, drinking cool beverages and eating cold food can help cool down your body temperature on hot days.
– Awnings can also save you money on energy bills by decreasing the heat your house absorbs in summer.
